CAPE TOWN, South Africa – March 17, 2023: On behalf of the African Circular Business Alliance (ACBA), I would like to offer our sincere sympathies to the people of Malawi on the devastation caused by the recent Cyclone Freddy in Malawi, and our heart goes out to all those affected by this tragedy. It is truly a heart-wrenching experience to witness the loss of lives, homes, and communities, and we cannot even begin to imagine the pain and suffering that the people of Malawi are going through.

Natural disasters like cyclones which are now fuelled by climate change can strike at any time and leave a trail of destruction that takes years to recover from. It is particularly devastating in countries like Malawi, where many people are already affected by the negative impact of the climate crisis. We want to offer our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragedy as no words can adequately express the grief and pain that they must be feeling right now.

We hope that they can find some solace in the fact that the world stands with them in their time of need, and that we will do everything we can to help them rebuild their lives and communities. To those who have survived the cyclone, we know that the road ahead may seem long and difficult, but please know that you are not alone.

As an organisation committed to social responsibility and sustainable development, we understand the importance of providing support and assistance to those in need and we call on the global community to offer support and assistance in any way possible. Whether it’s providing emergency aid, helping with the reconstruction efforts, or simply offering a shoulder to lean on. We hope that the people of Malawi can find the strength and resilience to overcome this tragedy and emerge stronger as a community. May you find comfort in the support of those around you, and may the memories of those who were lost serve as a reminder of the importance of coming together in times of crisis.
