We are thrilled to announce that Nair de Sousa, Director of Energy Sustainability at the African Circular Business Alliance (ACBA), has been recognised as one of Angola’s 100 Most Influential Women of 2025, a prestigious list curated by O Telegrama in celebration of women who are shaping the future of Angola and Africa at large.
This honour was formally celebrated at the 2025 Gala of “100 Mulheres Mais Influentes de Angola,” held at the InterContinental Hotel in Luanda on May 10, 2025. The ceremony brought together outstanding women leaders from across public and private sectors, culture, science, innovation, and civil society. This year’s edition held special significance, as it coincided with Angola’s 50th year of independence, marking a half-century of national progress and the vital role women continue to play in shaping that journey.
A Trailblazer in Energy and Climate Leadership
Nair de Sousa is a climate-focused geoscientist with a distinguished academic background, holding a degree in Geology from Agostinho Neto University and a Master’s degree in Reservoir Evaluation and Management from Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom. Her expertise lies in the intersection of energy systems, climate change, and circular economy policy. Over the years, she has consistently demonstrated visionary leadership in advancing low-carbon development pathways across Africa.
At ACBA, Nair leads the alliance’s strategic direction on energy sustainability, innovation, and climate action. She is at the forefront of pioneering projects that connect renewable energy, carbon reduction, and inclusive growth. Her recent work includes supporting the launch of EmTrack, ACBA Energy’s AI-powered software platform that helps businesses and individuals monitor and reduce their carbon emissions across all three scopes.
Her influence extends beyond technical leadership. She is a powerful advocate for women’s participation in climate and energy policy, championing opportunities for young professionals and underserved communities to join the green transition.
Honouring Vision, Commitment, and Legacy
This recognition is a reflection not only of Nair’s individual brilliance but of ACBA’s broader mission: to enable a just, inclusive, and regenerative circular economy in Africa. Through her work, Nair embodies the principles of innovation, equity, and environmental stewardship that guide ACBA’s vision.
We are immensely proud of Nair’s recognition on this national stage and celebrate her as a role model to young African women in STEM, energy, and sustainability. Her inclusion on the list reinforces the importance of diverse leadership in driving real climate action and accelerating systemic change across the continent.
As we honour her achievements, we also reaffirm ACBA’s commitment to uplifting female changemakers who are building a greener, more resilient future for all.
