ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Africa is the second-largest and second-most-populous continent on Earth, with a population of 1.3 billion people as of 2018. It accounts for about 16% of the human population on Earth and is the only continent with the highest percentage of young people. Africa’s fast-growing population and markets present unique opportunities for business in an environment of slowing global growth. At the same time, innovation and business investments are essential to meet Africa’s unfulfilled demand for goods and services, close the gaps in its infrastructure, create jobs, and decrease poverty. Unfortunately, the climate crisis poses a grave danger to the economic growth of Africa, its people and future generations. To mitigate the climate crisis and its effect in Africa, climate resilience and adaptation through diverse leadership and collaboration in both the Public and Private sectors must be at the forefront of every discussion leading to climate action!
The program is designed to address the Climate Change issue in Africa based on the integration of Geosciences, Engineering, and Sustainability in Business methodologies to drive the African agenda of Climate Change and establish a circular and resilient socio-economic environment. It also aims to build and bring together a one-of-a-kind network of African leaders to mobilize resources, share experiences, build solutions, and take climate action. The Program will convene ten business leaders each in the following sectors; Energy, Food & Agriculture, Buildings & Construction, Transportation, and three local government individuals/entities for a combined (virtual + in-person) interactive Circular Economy Training Sessions between the months of July to September 2023 in Luanda, Angola.
