January 20, 2025 – Cape Town, South Africa – The African Circular Business Alliance (ACBA) is proud to announce the acquisition of 50 hectares of land to house its groundbreaking programs in energy and agriculture: Evoke, Terrafuel, and Foodfort. This ambitious and visionary project positions ACBA’s leadership in addressing some of the most pressing global challenges, including climate change, energy access, and food security, while driving sustainable economic growth and fostering innovation.

Pioneering Clean Energy: Evoke and Terrafuel

This newly acquired land will host cutting-edge waste-to-energy projects:

  • Evoke: Transforming organic waste into clean, affordable cooking biogas, reducing reliance on traditional, polluting fuels.
  • Terrafuel: Converting organic waste into biofuel for (heavy) transportation, slashing dependency on fossil fuels and tackling global methane emissions.

Both programs tackle methane pollution – a critical driver of climate change – by diverting organic waste from landfills. The result? Cleaner air, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and a healthier planet.

Why Evoke and Terrafuel Matter

  • Cleaner Energy Access: Expanding affordable, renewable energy solutions.
  • Environmental Conservation: Mitigating waste pollution while preserving ecosystems.
  • Economic Revolution: Building a circular economy powered by renewable energy innovations.

Foodfort: Revolutionizing Agriculture in Africa

The Foodfort program is set to redefine African agriculture through:

  • Smart Agricultural Technologies: Advanced tools for sustainable farming and higher yields.
  • Comprehensive Farmer Support: Tailored training and resources to empower local farmers, agricultural students and entrepreneurs.
  • Quality Farm Produce: Enhancing food security and meeting growing food demand.

By merging innovation with sustainability, Foodfort will address Africa’s food security challenges while reducing the carbon footprint of traditional farming practices.

Empowering Communities with Jobs and Growth

The development of these initiatives is expected to generate 1,000 direct green jobs and 5,000 to 10,000 indirect jobs, creating economic opportunities for local African communities and fostering inclusive growth.

Sustainability in Action: Aligning with Global Goals

ACBA’s programs are advancing multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including:

  • SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
  • SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
  • SDG 13: Climate Action
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

A Vision for Africa’s Sustainable Future

“At ACBA, we believe that today’s challenges are tomorrow’s opportunities. This land acquisition is a bold step toward a cleaner, more sustainable future for Africa and the world. Through innovation and collaboration, we aim to build thriving communities, create green jobs, and protect our planet for generations to come,” said Miguel Ugochukwu Peters, CEO of ACBA.
