The GeoStream Program by ACBA is a transformative initiative designed to unlock Africa’s geothermal potential, with a primary focus on East and Southern Africa – regions rich in geothermal resources. Over the next few years, GeoStream will champion efforts to increase awareness, advocate for supportive policies, build technical capacity, and foster robust partnerships, laying the foundation for large-scale geothermal energy projects.
GeoStream’s mission is to position geothermal energy as a cornerstone of Africa’s clean energy future by driving collaboration among governments, private sectors, and international organisations. The program will achieve this through key activities such as hosting impactful conferences and webinars, conducting in-depth field inspections and case studies, and crafting tailored policy frameworks, particularly where geothermal opportunities are most promising.
By emphasizing capacity building and creating green job opportunities, GeoStream will empower local communities while strengthening public-private partnerships for sustainable energy development. With the right momentum and investment, the program envisions ACBA taking a leading role in driving the development of geothermal plants in key regions of Africa, with a clear mandate to provide access to affordable clean energy.
Rooted in circular economy principles, GeoStream underscores ACBA’s commitment to advancing clean energy infrastructure, achieving climate goals, and fostering sustainable economic growth across the continent.
